Ingredients

  • Frozen waffle fries: Any brand works. Choose your favorite crinkle pattern or seasoning level.
  • Oil spray (optional): Avocado oil or olive oil spray helps boost crispiness. Skip if your fries are already pre-oiled.
  • Salt and pepper: Simple and essential.
  • Optional seasonings: Garlic powder, paprika, smoked paprika, chili powder, Cajun seasoning, or ranch seasoning.
  • Optional toppings: Shredded cheese, cooked bacon bits, green onions, jalapeños, or a drizzle of ranch or hot sauce.
  • Dips: Ketchup, spicy mayo, chipotle aioli, honey mustard, barbecue sauce, or cheese sauce.

Instructions

  • Preheat the air fryer to 400°F (200°C). If your air fryer doesn’t require preheating, run it empty for 3–4 minutes to warm up. A hot basket = crispier fries.
  • Add fries in a single layer. Don’t pack them tight. A little space lets air circulate and prevents soggy spots. Cook in batches if needed.
  • Lightly spray and season. Give the fries a quick mist of oil if they’re not pre-oiled. Sprinkle with salt, pepper, and any extra spices you like.
  • Air fry for 12–15 minutes total. Shake the basket halfway through. Start checking at minute 10, since different brands vary in thickness.
  • Adjust for extra crisp. Want even more crunch? Add 2–3 minutes, watching closely so they don’t over-brown.
  • Serve hot. Toss with a pinch more salt while they’re fresh from the fryer, then plate immediately with your favorite dip.
