Air Fryer Frozen Dumplings - Crispy, Fast, and Foolproof

Prep Time 5 minutes
Cook Time 10 minutes
Total Time 15 minutes
Servings 4 servings

Ingredients

  • Frozen dumplings (potstickers, gyoza, mandu, or siu mai)
  • Neutral oil spray (avocado, canola, or grapeseed)
  • Optional: Soy sauce or tamari
  • Optional: Rice vinegar or black vinegar
  • Optional: Sesame oil
  • Optional: Chili oil or chili crisp
  • Optional: Scallions, garlic, ginger, sesame seeds, or lime

Instructions

  • Preheat the air fryer to 370°F (188°C) for 3–5 minutes. A hot basket helps crisp the bottoms.
  • Lightly oil the basket. Spray or brush a thin coat to prevent sticking. Do not soak.
  • Arrange the frozen dumplings in a single layer, flat side down, with a little space between each. Do not thaw first.
  • Spray the tops of the dumplings with a light coat of oil for better browning.
  • Air fry for 6–8 minutes at 370°F (188°C). At the 4-minute mark, shake the basket or gently turn the dumplings for even crisping.
  • Check doneness. They’re ready when the bottoms are golden and the wrappers look cooked through. If needed, add 1–3 more minutes.
  • Optional steam finish: For softer tops, add 1 teaspoon of water to the basket and cook 1–2 minutes more. Stand back—steam releases fast.
  • Make a quick dipping sauce: Mix 2 tablespoons soy sauce, 1 tablespoon rice vinegar, a few drops sesame oil, and chili oil to taste. Add scallions if you have them.
  • Serve hot with the dipping sauce. Garnish with sesame seeds or a squeeze of lime if you like.
