Air Fryer Frozen Chicken Nuggets - Crispy, Fast, and Foolproof

Cook Time 10 minutes
Total Time 10 minutes
Servings 4 servings

Ingredients

  • Frozen chicken nuggets (any brand or style—regular, panko, gluten-free, or plant-based)
  • Cooking spray (optional; use a high-smoke-point oil like avocado oil, not aerosol with propellants if your basket is nonstick)
  • Seasonings (optional: garlic powder, paprika, black pepper, chili powder, lemon pepper)
  • Dipping sauces (optional: ketchup, honey mustard, barbecue, ranch, buffalo, sriracha mayo)

Instructions

  • Preheat the air fryer to 400°F (200°C) for 3–5 minutes. Preheating helps the nuggets crisp faster.
  • Arrange the nuggets in a single layer in the basket. Leave a little space between each one so air can flow. Don’t stack.
  • Optional: Lightly mist the nuggets with cooking spray for extra crunch. Skip if your nuggets already look well-coated with oil.
  • Air fry for 8–10 minutes, shaking the basket or flipping the nuggets halfway through. Most standard-size nuggets are done around the 9-minute mark.
  • Check for doneness. They should be golden brown and hot throughout. Internal temperature should reach 165°F (74°C) for safety.
  • Cook a minute or two more if needed for extra crispness or if your nuggets are larger or thicker.
  • Serve immediately with your favorite dips. For a meal, pair with a salad, roasted veggies, or sweet potato fries.
